Employment For Seniors Staff

CAROL A. VENTRESCA, PH. D.
Executive Director

As the Executive Director of Employment For Seniors, Inc., since 2009, Dr. Carol Ventresca has led the agency, enhancing services and programs for Central Ohio employers, as well as local residents, 50 years of age and older, who are seeking job opportunities.  Employment For Seniors, a nonprofit agency, has provided service to more than 32,000 mature job seekers in our community, during the past 44 years.

During 2016 we registered nearly 880 new clients.  Supported by a dedicated team of professional Volunteer Job Counselors, EFS provided 10,000 units of career services to over 5,500 mature job seekers, including: employment referrals; career assistance; resume reviews; and recommendations for other resources in the community.  Employment For Seniors sponsors the Annual Senior Career Expo, a recruiting event which also includes an educational component. The 2016 Expo brought 600 participants to Fawcett Center, along with 57 recruiters/agency representatives, and featured local experts presenting 22 career workshops.  Reaching out to every corner of central Ohio, Carol and her team provided 32 workshops and programs, giving over 1,500 mature job seekers the motivation and self-assurance needed to re-enter today’s workforce.

During her career with the State of Ohio and The Ohio State University, Carol held a variety of positions, focusing on employment issues, educational programs for adults, and the academic and career advising of students, ranging in age from 18 to 80.  She directed various programs in the Office of Continuing Education at Ohio State, concentrating on workforce development, increasing educational opportunities for non-traditional students, and promotion of lifelong learning in Franklin County.  Carol also served on the administrative staff of the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, and provided assistance in the human resources development and training for Liqui-Box Corporation.

A life-long Columbus resident, Carol earned a Bachelor’s degree from Otterbein University in Psychology and Sociology.  She received a Masters in Sociology, and a doctorate in Sociology and Business, concentrating on organizational behavior and design, from The Ohio State University.

Advocacy for mature job seekers is her primary role as Executive Director of Employment For Seniors.  Increasing employers’ awareness of this highly skilled and experienced talent pool in our community is critical to the success and growth of Ohio’s economic future.
